“As much as I hate to admit it, Hilda, it's a nice touch. We've got to start somewhere, I suppose.” Nodding, Zelda brightened suddenly. “And it just may have given me another idea.”

“Whatever it is, you'd better hurry. Sabrina will be home any minute.”

“You stay out here in case any more of her friends stop by trick-or-treating with younger siblings,” Zelda said as she turned toward the door. “Word spreads through the teenage grapevine faster than wildfire through dry brush.”

“Okay. I'll make more tombstones.” Hilda hesitated expectantly, then continued when Zelda didn't object. “What are you going to do?”

“I'm going to redecorate.” Pausing to pat the snarling gargoyle, Zelda looked back with a mischievous grin. “An early haunted-house motif should do nicely.”

“I think so,” Hilda agreed. “But how is Sabrina going to feel about it?”

“Not nearly as bad as she will if no one shows up.
